This press release announces on June 6, 1973, that the Bank has approved eighty-one million US dollars loan to help finance a hydroelectric power scheme to serve an extensive region in Northeast Brazil. This project involves construction of a regulating dam, a 1,500 MW hydroelectric power plant, transmission lines and substations, project-related equipment and training of personnel.
