The Sahelian Zone Project (SZP) was the tenth IDA operation, the sixth project in the agriculture sector and the second drought relief project in Chad. It was developed in response to the 1976 crop failure and to Government's decision to allocate investments more equitably between the cotton and Sahelian zones.
