Measuring Poverty in Sao Tome and Príncipe : Methodology and Recent Estimates (English)

The measurement of poverty is essential for the Government of Sao Tome and Príncipe (STP) to follow its national and international commitments. Given the ambiguity of the definition of poverty, several poverty lines exist for various purposes; all are important and presently calculated in STP. Recent results of the Family Budget Survey show that poverty has reduced in the country between 2010 and 2017, while inequality has increased slightly.
