Poland is the European growth champion. Since 1989, it has more than doubled its gross domestic product (GDP) per capita, coming in ahead of all European peers. It was the only EU economy to avoid the 2008–2009 global financial crisis. It has also grown faster than all its global peers, including the so-called Asian Tigers.
